TASDoom ------- tas@doomworld.com http://www.doomworld.com/tas/ TASDoom is a modification of Aurikan's lmpcheat, which allowed recording Doom demos in slowmotion and in several sessions. The original documentation of Aurikan's lmpcheat is included at the end of this file and it explains how to use the engine. We (the TAS team) have made a few modifications to Aurikan's engine, however. Note that to the best of our knowledge Aurikan's exe and its source are no longer available for download. These are the important things you should know that are not covered by Aurikan's documentation: - The key to continue recording is "e", not "w". - We've made a few changes to the HUD. You'll see them, they're only meant to provide you with useful information. - lmps recorded with TASDoom are not compatible with DosDoom/Doom2. They can be watched using TASDoom, and they can also be converted to DosDoom format. We won't convert demos you've recorded unless you give us a very good reason to do so, though. - Feel free to submit demos you've recorded using TASDoom to us if you think they're good enough. However, please read the page first (http://www.doomworld.com/tas/) to see what we expect from submitted demos. Feedback (tas@doomworld.com) is welcome, but don't ask us for the source or to add features. ---- Original documentation from Aurikan's lmpcheat ---- LMP Cheater Andy Kempling aka aurikan aurikan@hotmail.com Here's the deal: This program will allow you to splice new data into lmps, as well as play and switch between various speed modes. This is all done in-game. When starting a new lmp, use the normal command line with rec.exe "rec.exe -warp 11 -record cheat11" When you screw up or finish, quit normally. Once you have an LMP, you can play it back and stop playback and make a new ending for it. To do this use the -playdemo and -continue parameters: "rec.exe -warp 11 -playdemo cheat11 -continue cheat11b" This will save the original beginning and the newly manufactured ending to cheat11b.lmp. During lmp playback, use the "forward" key (w) to terminate playback and begin recording a new ending. Once you are into "record" mode, q will quit and save the lmp. Use keys z, x, c, v, b to change game speed in "playback" or "record" mode. key speed z 20fps (slow-motion) x 35fps (normal) c 70fps (double speed) v 200+fps (fast forward) b 350+fps (as fast as your machine goes, pretty much) This is so that if you have 5 minutes of perfect play and you want to make a new last 20 seconds, it will only take half a minute to get to the part where you wish to splice new data into the recording. I do not support the use of this program to cheat. I am merely releasing it 'as is'. Do NOT mail your flames/bug reports/problems/etc ad nauseum to me because I DON'T CARE and chances are I am NOT going to release a future version. The sources therefore are available for download. Enjoy making the cheated lmps, and please please please do not submit them as 'real' lmps in any competitions.
