Thanks for downloading ZDaemon!

ZDaemon is a free port of Doom designed to provide a first-class multiplayer, internet gaming environment. All you need to be able to play ZDaemon is this package, a computer and an internet connection.

To join a game, simply click on the "ZDaemon Game Launcher" icon on your desktop. You will be asked to specify a nickname and password; once you specify them, press the "New Account" button. Then you will be presented with a list of game servers; you can play on any of them by double-clicking on the server name; if any game-related files are needed, ZDaemon will automatically search, download and install them for you.

To setup your own server, click on the "ZDaemon Server Launcher" icon in the "ZDaemon" program group. Then you will have to specify various server parameters and you should be well on your way to hosting your own server.

• ZDaemon is based on ZDoom by Randy Heit which in turn is based on id Software's DOOM program.
  DOOM was made available under the DOOM Source Code License as published by id Software.
• Code original to ZDoom is under the 3-clause BSD license.
• ZDaemon contains code from ZDoom that uses parts of the Heretic/Hexen source code by Raven Software.
  Kenn Hoekstra of Raven Software allowed to use the terms of the DOOM Source Code License for the Heretic/Hexen source code.
• ZDaemon contains code from ZDoom that uses parts of the Build Engine by Ken Silverman which is available under the Build Source Code License.
• ZDaemon uses the GME music library by Blargg (gme.dll/libgme.dylib/libgme.so) available under the LGPL license.
• ZDaemon can at run-time dynamically link the OPL emulator by the MAME project (fmopl.dll/libfmopl.dylib/libfmopl.so) available under the MAME license.
  MUS file playback on the OPL emulator uses the MUS File Player Library by Vladimir Arnost.
